Ok so the title of the post is a little misleading….. I was just thinking how I could have made TIME music festival any better… and though Boyz Noize, AM and Justice might have added a tiny bit of pizzaz… these are the two who I would have loved to see…. Not that I thought Crookers‘ last performance in Toronto was good… I thought it was pretty soft actually… But I want to give them another chance…. By the way, good article in NOW about that Crookers night… While our crew of about 50 monsters was complaining about the tameness of the event we’d all been grinding our teeth over for months little Lord Fontleroy here had this to say:
Crookers steal the show
Italian production duo Crookers have been absolutely killing it on dance floors all over the world this year, mainly because of their aggressively funky electro remixes, which often get more play than the original tracks.Even if the term “nu-rave” was originally coined as a joke, it certainly fits the over-the-top acid vibe they pound out, and walking through the wall of steam and sweaty bodies greeting us at Wrongbar definitely felt like something out of the glory days of the “old-rave.”
There was nothing subtle about the vibe they pounded out, and that was exactly the kind of bludgeoning the crowd was up for. This was easily one of the most intense parties in recent memory, which proved that the buzz-saw bass line sound that’s ruled the club scene the last few years is far from dead. That heavy-metal disco attitude still manages to thrill, at least when it’s done as well as this.
Goes to show what the frick frack Toronto Annex Hipsters know! And since we made up 90% of the jam (somehow Toronto didn’t get the facebook invite) it also goes to show that we neeeeeed to grow up and get some fucking jobs
