The new Metric album, although maybe slightly overproduced, definetly took me by suprise. I usually don’t give indie rock the time of day, but this shit is hot! This track “Help I’m Alive,” really popped out for me, and i think it’s definetly going to be the next radio single. So in typical Barletta fashion, i crafted an edit of it that is both dj and club friendly.
Pance Party is a trio of producers from San Fran who have been doin’ it up real big the past couple years, and have subsequently been hailed with well-deserved credit across the blogosphere.
According to our friends at Noise Porn:
“They’re an interesting bunch. Andy, from Philadelphia, worked for a year and a half as a neuroscientist before pursuing his career in music, and builds his own custom multitouch music controllers. Eric, hailing from the Bay Area and finding his muse in the Berlin electro scene, won “The Price is Right” and has summited Kilimanjaro. And Ben (more affectionately known as Swardy), a Maine native, once rode a bicycle across America, and really, really likes “five-dollar footlongs”

I’ve been on tour now in Europe for almost 6 weeks so you’ll have to: 1.) Excuse me for not posting as often as I would like, that will change once I am back in NYC next week & 2.) Take this “My Penis” remix to the bank; cause on this tour I got inspired!
First I found a 12″ of Jamie Principle’s “It’s My Pussy” from 1994 which reinvigorated my spirit to do this bootleg Puerto Bass (which is my mix of Reggaeton, Latin House & Ringtone Music) remix for Larry Tee feat. Perez Hilton. This may be the only time you see me mentioning Perez Hiltons name on sainwoods.com but don’t get scared, I assure you this remix is worth the gasp!!!
I am also including a sexclusive remix from DJ Tranter, formerly of Game Boy Game Girl from Victoria, Australia. Unfortunately I won’t be including a mixtape of the week this week, mainly because I don’t want to hit you w/ something un-sexclusive!!!
Here’s two tracks inspired by the radio…. Something that I only listen to about twice a week on my way drunk in the taxi cab to the club. These two tracks have very little to do with that experience but still come from the same place…. First one is a nice happy drum and bassy track I heard on the Annie Mac show (on my computer)…. the other one is the Radio soulwax edit of Bonkers….which has very little to do with any form of radio at all
Ahhh Miami…Home of the 40 plus grease ball who parties with girls old enough to be his daughter, clubs decked out with couches and beds, ostentatious displays of wealth that may or may not be fueled by overdraft and/or a multitude of credit cards, and…house music. Swedish House Mafia’s new video for “Leave the World Behind” makes that life seem so dam appealing that I might just have to bust out the Visa and hit up WMC this winter.
Shot over the course of the 2008 WMC festival, this video is not just your typical party compilation. Utilizing a range of techniques such as split screens, slow motion, fisheye lenses and brilliant opacity adjustments to name a few, director Christian Larson captures the energy of WMC in a crispy HD video the likes of which is rarely seen online these days. Larson has worked with notables in the house scene before, (David Guetta) but this is by far and away his standout work to date.
The video starts in the daytime; a plane landing on a runway in Miami and shots of highway driving to the South Shore. Throughout the build towards the first drop, we hear plenty of background voices like a radio announcer and the guys from SHM talking about Miami, which gives the first part of the video a structure as it works towards the immense drop and high energy party footage which follows. The daytime Miami party footage, which makes up the first part of the first verse, is filled with bikinis, sunshine, sand, and blatant ass shots that makes me weak in the knees. As the sun sets and night falls, the party continues in an array of different venues each with beautiful women, incredible lighting displays, and high energy DJ performances. The sound design gives the video an extra edge, and each verse is separated by various background sounds and interview footage. At the end of the bridge, a man proclaims “house music is back in the United States,” followed by Sebastian Ingrosso yelling into the camera before the beat rips your speakers apart while huge crowds, the SHM guys, and beautiful women are masterfully cut over picturesque driving footage leaving you visually mesmerized. And to top it all off, a sweeping helicopter shot of the sun rising over Miami. Impeccable editing technique, sound design and most of all, the setting, make this my favorite party video to date and one that will not easily be topped.
