Earlier in the summer I put up a post about this summer’s biggest dance festival, Hard Summer in LA. The lineup was absolutely ridiculous and included all the big names (A-Trak, Aoki, DJ AM, Crookers, Busy P, TIga, just to name a few.) I had a couple friends headed out to catch the madness, and I was quite envious of them all. I got a facebook message from one of them saying that Hard got broken up by the LAPD in Riot gear, and that people were jumping off of the second level to get on the floor. My mind automatically assumed the worst had happened, and that this would be a ton of bad press for the entire community.
Well it turns out that nothing all that sinister happened, but rather that the venue was a bit understaffed and too many tickets were sold. The coolest thing about this whole mess is that, rather than get on the next plane out of the town, a couple of the DJs started to make calls to see if there were any venues that would house them for the night. The video above is from this massive party in Downtown LA. As you can see its a much smaller venue than the Crookers play these days, but they tore it down none the less. Without sounding too cliche, I think this proves what this music is all about. While its obviously great to sell out arenas and have our names in big lights, we still do this for one reason, and thats to keep the party going and keep people dancing their asses off. One love everyone!
