The Cobrasnake is an international phenomenon. (Real name) Mark Hunter has captured hearts and minds across the world ever since he started his photoblog, www.thecobrasnake.com, originally named the Polaroid Scene. He is, to put it bluntly, the quintessential hipster; not exactly forthcoming in appearance, his wild hair, differing facial hair designs, (all various forms of scruffy) and vintage attire doesn’t exactly scream accomplished in any field other than smoking weed and channel surfing. But that’s the point.
I’m stoked to be djing with Mr. Krames. I’ve always played his remixes in my sets for a few years now. Krames is the creator of Gold Whistle records, and produces a wide range of party jams: from b-more remixes of hip hop and oldies, to electro and house bangers. I totally enjoy spinning with him. Hilarious dude on the mic, and smart with the turntables. I of course will continue my obsession with international booty jams of the highest order, keeping it nice and mixed up. We will make fun party……. Promise!”
Red Bull Megahurtz is an extremely exciting and innovative event taking place at Club Just For Laughs this Thursday. The event is a combined audio and visual experience which will take the typical “electro show” or “club night” to a completely new level. The show will focus on live performance and production by the 9 DJs involved, as well as intricate visual displays and effects. The idea for the show stemmed from an upcoming project by Nosaj Thing which will be debuted on Thursday. Other performers include Megasoid, a duo who create gritty electronic beats and hip-hop remixes and were awarded Show of the Year at Pop Montreal 2008, Saintwoods’ favourite Barletta, and 6 other producers from around the U.S. and Canada. I will definitely be checking this event out and highly recommend anyone with an interest in electronic music to do so as well. Tickets are $12 in advance and can be bought at Moog Audio, Off The Hook, Admission.com, or the Just For Laughs box office.
SaintWoods blogger Barletta drops his Whisper E.P. today and has also signed with Tremendous Records, a Montreal based future/pop label just recently started by Grandtheft of Team Canada fame. Although he has been only doing his thing for two years it seemed like a long time coming for Barletta, who has managed to put out 120 tracks in that time span. We hope that as he continues his ascent he will continue to drop exclusives on Saintwoods.com and document his adventures all over the glorious earth for us and all of you.
Posted above is the sick stop motion Whisper vid, which I highly suggest y’all watch. Posted below is the possibly sicker Whisper E.P. mix which I highly suggest y’all listen to and download. And click on this link to Beatport and support this home grown talent who is about to BLOW by purchasing one shiny copy of his new fucking E.P. with official remixes by Tommie Sunshine and Klever. Keep doing it real big B, SaintWoods has always got your back!
Axwell (born as Axel Hedfors on December 18, 1977 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a DJ, remixer, record producer, and record label owner from Stockholm, Sweden.
I spent some sick time in the west coast about a week ago, and me and my partner in Crime Ernold Sane , whom I have done a bunch of tunes with decided that we would gang bang, destruct, re edit, and remix our favourite UK rock tracks from the past. Both huge fans of rock music, we jacked the bass up on these tunes and made them appropriate and club friendly. Oasis’ “Lyla” is the club banger, while the Kasabian edit is for the lounge, and the charlatans just belongs in the gutter!
Joshua Harvey AKA Herve is a UK based producer and DJ. His many remixes and original songs span from Hip-Hop and Dubstep to House and Electro. Herve (also known as The Count, Young Lovers, Action Man, and one of half of Speaker Junk) created his own label, Cheap Thrills, in order to release the material of his aliases as well as that of other up and coming UK artists. Today, the label drops Cheap Thrills Volume 1, which includes 8 exclusive tracks from the likes of Fake Blood, Jack Beats,The Bloody Beetroots, and others. A second CD also includes a mix by Herve himself featuring more tracks from his label mates. Below I’ve posted two tracks from the release. The first is a preview of Fake Blood’s new track ‘Fix Your Accent’ which I’ve been hearing everywhere in the past few weeks and the second is ‘Get Low’ by Detboi which mixes a dope fidgety beat with hip-hop and vocal samples.
It’s hard to describe Udachi & Jubilee’s sound with anything but ‘peaktime.’ Influenced by everything from b’more, to classic house, to bassline, to electro, to rave, the duo just released what may be label Nightshifters’ hottest tracks yet.
‘Paypur’ comes correct through devastating use of vocal samples, bassline squelch, and just the right amount of melody. This song is anything but DIME A DOZEN.
‘Smoke Rings’ has probably the best video for any dance release this year – it’s about greedy aliens stealing Jublilee’s weed. After the intro’s reggae-style vocal breakdown, the drop on this song is gonna be a killer in the club. Anthem material, I think.
