THE YOUNG PUNX – FIRE (PHONAT REMIX)

phonat

Usually, I wouldn’t post tracks that have been hanging around the blogosphere for awhile, but I think these two deserve an exception.  Both of them are sick Phonat tracks that I totally slept on and just recently dug up.  The first is his remix of ‘Fire’ by the Young Punx, which transforms the song into a funky mid-energy electro banger.  The second is a 4 To The Floor remix of Phonat’s innovative tempo-switching ‘Learn To Recycle,’ which resulted in an epic dancefloor-friendly version of the original.  If you like what you hear, check out my previous post on Phonat.  Dude is incredibly talented and set to blow up.

SAINTWOODS.COM: EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH BORIS DLUGOSCH

Press_1

A few weeks ago I posted ‘Bangkok’ by Boris Dlugosch. ‘Bangkok’ is without a doubt one of the biggest tracks out right now and is being played by absolutely everyone in the electro world. The hype surrounding this song before its release was crazy! Although Boris has been producing music for years, he was almost unknown in the blogosphere. Luckily, we were able to get him to answer some questions for us and give us a better understanding of who Boris Dlugosch is and how his production has evolved over the past 20 years. He certainly hasn’t shied away from any questions and has given us some detailed insight into his djing style and the process of releasing a track like ‘Bangkok.’ Enjoy!

Jully Black – Running (Torro Torro Remix)

YO My boys Torro Torro have been killing it lately.  They basically came out of nowhere this summer and have since put out my absolute favourite Sydney Samson “Riverside “remix , Rye Rye “Bang “remix, and Auto-Erotique gladiator remix… they also recently were charted by Lee Mortimer (Warehouse/Dubsided), AutoErotique (DIM MAK) and have been growing their buzz evrywhere

Their latest remix was created at the request of Universal Music Canada for songstress Jully Black. Jully is commonly known for her work with Nas, Missy Elliot, Sean Paul and Kardinal Offishal. She is also recognized as the Queen of Canadian R&B. This remix flips her latest single “Running” into an upbeat electro-house anthem…. Perfectly in sync with the tone of electro right now

BARLETTA : ALEXISONFIRE REMIX?!?!?! WTF

202852480

Alright here it is, get ready for the weekend, it’s time to fucking rage it!  This week I got a remix for you that will shock some, as im taking my pop punk and screamo influences, and progging them out.  No one would really think that the emo stylings of sir Dallas Green would cut it for a electro track, but his shit actually works proper on this one!

Enjoy!

THE COUNT & SINDEN – ELEPHANT 1234

The-Count-and-Sinden The Count & Sinden can always be count-ed on to put out some quality fidget production, and ‘Elephant 1234′ is no exception.  The tune starts out with this tribal vibe that seems to be pretty popular lately, and turns into an all-out fidget raver.

DJ Neoteric Mystery Mix
DJ Neoteric – The Mystery Mix

I’ve been meaning to do a post on this for a while, sorry about getting around to it so late, but you still have more than enough time to win this awesome contest. The Mystery Mix is the brainchild of Vancouver DJ/Producer and Dubsided A&R, DJ Neoteric. This mix was originally posted on Discobelle, but I got the okay from Neoteric himself, to throw this up on our blog.

The Mystery Mix is chocked full of amazing tunes, many of them unreleased or by unknown artists. So naturally, everyone who hears this mix will be hitting up google looking for a track list. The catch is that no tracklist exists! The Mystery Mix is a bit of an online scavenger hunt, complete with prizes courtesy of Mishka and Sony Ericsson. Hints have been dropped on various blogs, and on the twitter, myspace and facebook pages of various artists and labels.

To enter the contest, download the mix from the link above, and send your complete tracklisting to mysterymix@discobelle.net. The first fully correct answer will win a $100 gift certificate from Mishka NYC (one of my favorite clothing lines), as well as a brand new Sony Ericsson W995 cell phone. Like I said, I’m getting this post up a bit late, but according to Neoteric, people are still a bit far from solving the Mystery Mix. We might even be getting a Saintwoods.com exclusive hint, so stay tuned!

THE BLOODY BEETROOTS – WARP 1977 (PREVIEW)

Remember back to Halloween and the epic set by The Bloody Beetroots. As expected, The Telus Theatre almost exploded when Warp was dropped (twice!). But this wasn’t the banger to end all bangers Warp 1.9, nor was it the more melodic Warp 7.7. In fact, it was Warp 1977, a combination of both tracks which was premiered just a week earlier at I Love Techno in Ghent. I can honestly say i was growing a bit tired of Warp, although still love hearing it live ’cause nothing amps a crowd up more. 1977 doesn’t change the track in any crazy ways, but definitely takes it up to another level of awesomeness and gives it some new legs. Today I’m posting a preview of the track (big ups to our homies at Duke Of Swabia for the heads up on this.). You can cop the full song December 8th when it’s released on DIM MAK.

Rusko’s LA Takeover

Its not often that we dedicate entire posts on SW.com to dubstep, but Rusko is a man who transcends the genre, and is constantly breaking down barriers. I heard from some friends in LA, that the city was a buzz after his headlining set at Avalon this past weekend. I did some searching and dug up the above video from the beginning of his set which included his new track “Da Cali Anthem.” This show looks absolutely wild, and Rusko had the crowd right in the palm of his hand. As you can see in the video, the crowd was not just sweaty dubstep fanatics, but a diverse mixture of beautiful Californians losing their minds. This is one of those nights that will be talked about for quite some time, and it might just be remembered as the moment that Dubstep officially arrived on this continent. I might be getting ahead of myself though.

Bellow I included Rusko’s classic, Cockney Thug, which is the song which really helped propel him into dub royalty.

HARRIS ROBOTIS – UP ALL NIGHT

harrisThis new tune by Melbourne-based producer Harris Robotis is a certified banger, full of ravey synths, grimey basslines, and chopped vocal samples.  Expect to hear this bad boy dropped at electro jams in the near future.  As if the original weren’t enough, the release includes an almost completely reworked version by fellow Australian Knightlife- equally dirty but more on the funky side.  Unfortunately, I can only post low-quality versions of these tracks, but you can head on over to Beatport to cop the release.

DIRTY POLITICS – CALL OF THE WILD (LAZY RICH REMIX)

lazy-rich

Last week while I was searching every end of the internet for music, I ran across a Vancouver DJ named Lazy Rich. I was absolutely blown away by this guy. His productions combine a mix of both big room house and the dark, heavy buzz saw synths we’ve all come to love thanks to MSTRKRFT and The Bloody Beetroots. I’m actually really surprised I haven’t seen more hype about Lazy Rich around the blogs, but I don’t see him staying a secret for too much longer. Today, I’m posting his remix of Dirty Politic’s ‘Call Of The Wild’. This is my absolute favorite electro song right now. It’s just filthy. Everything else he has put out seems to be locked up on Beatport. If you are down with buying music (which you should be!) i STRONGLY recommend you check out his remix of ‘Look Out’ by Jon E Industry and all of his other work which seems to be coming out at a rapid rate.

Lazy Rich makes some dirty fucking dance music, so don’t sleep! Enjoy.
