EXODUS – Noisia & Mayhem ft. KRS One (Official Video)

My brother showed me this sick video for EXODUS – Noisia & Mayhem ft. KRS One (Official Video). Never saw it before goes amazing with the track.

I love these guys… Those sounds are incredible. Tron was cool but i cant wait to hear this kind of music in a sci fi soundtrack.

RUFUS – WE LEFT AND PARIS COLLIDES

(Our photo uploader is acting up, so I apologize for the lack of visual aid for this one).

Here are two tracks from a new project called “Rufus”.  Here’s what they have to say about themselves:

Rufus is – “A new Sydney outfit gearing up for a massive live show and EP for the approaching summer… A mix of live percussion, samples and synthesisers pulsate a lo-fi groove with melodic round lead lines, bass and sparkling vocals.”

These tracks (especially “We Left”) definitely sound like they will be the soundtrack for many artsy films, edits, and thoughtful youtube videos in the e-future.

SPEAKING IN CODE (FULL STREAM)

In her recent electronic music documentary Speaking in Code, Amy Grill takes a decidedly different approach than other recent DJ docs like Justice’s “A Cross the Universe” and Swedish House Mafia’s “Take One.”  While the DJ’s in those films are rock stars with ridiculous egos and even more ridiculous lifestyles, the producers and DJ’s featured in “Speaking in Code” are quirky, relatable people dealing with the enormous demands of their careers.  If there’s any moment that most encapsulates this spirit, it’s when Monkey Maffia, after playing a huge festival gig, refuses to sign a dude’s T-shirt because he’s “just a DJ, not a star.” Both approaches have their merits, and I’d definitely suggest watching this one because it’s really thoughtfully put together.  Catch the full quality stream at Pitchfork, but only for a week!

MURS – VARSITY BLUES 2

Its been a lil while since i posted. So lets start this new year with a bit of a different post. MURS. He is for sure one of my favourite rappers, and he just put out this new killer track.  I don’t have much to say besides enjoi. Murs is always fun to listen to, and his lyrics are always clever.

Strava.

INTERNET CONNECTION – HUORATRON REMIX

I’m sure you are just as tired of MIA remixes as I am, but this is a seriously badass track.  I would love to drop this in a set, but it would need to be a pretty serious rave for this to go over well.

AMTRAC – IN LOVE

I’ve never heard of Amtrac and can’t find much out about him, but I think this is a pretty cool sound.  I’m assuming the vocals and instrumentals are original – they don’t sound much like a sample, so I’m looking forward to hearing more from this artist.

SBTRKT – Hide or Seek

Hadn’t listened to much SBTRKT before this, but this track is very much worth a listen. Mildly haunting but extremely epic…yet subtle.

Chromeo – Hot Mess (Duck Sauce Remix)

Here’s ducksauce’s new remix of Chromeo’s track Hot Mess feat La Roux. Its funny because its there first official remix but its pretty much exactly like their other originals… A repetitive catchy hook repeated over and over again… of course they have managed to make it sound awesome so kudos.

AFTER A BRIEF RETIREMENT…

So after a brief retirement from the blogosphere I am back again.  I think my new years resolution will be to post more music here.  Over the break I spent a lot of time working on tracks for the EP I’m working on and got a lot done on some remixes/collaborations.  I can’t say for sure when these will be ready, but I’ll keep updates coming.  For now I’ll just give you guys a playlist of the tracks that I was listening to over the break (DISCLAIMER TO ALL BLOG CHAMPIONS/HIPSTERS: I know you got some of these tracks like sooooooo long ago – I don’t give a fuck).

Everything All The Time is an awesome Toronto indie synth pop band that I love.  I first found them because the drummer in the band was my drum teacher once upon a time.  I’m working on a remix of their track Start/Stop right now and after hearing the instrumental and stems I realized how talented the band really is.  They use a wide array of hardware synths that they clearly have mastered, and when combined with awesome groove and some seriously soulful/badass vocals – sonic magic is created.

Listen here.

These were some of my favorites over the break:

Just rediscovered this one.  This is one of my all time favorites but surprisingly few people know it. They don’t make ‘em like this anymore:

another rediscovery (if you don’t have Black Kids’ album “Partie Traumatic” get it):

Besides the fact that this an unbelievably phenomenal song, I thought I’d point out that this is pretty much a nu-disco track.  If you listen to the instrumentals it is almost all retro synth sounds which are commonplace in nu-disco.  Mind you, they make it way more epic and add a totally unique twist to it.  So before you label Arcade Fire as a stadium rock band that could never satisfy your exclusively EDM musical tastes – listen to this track carefully and studiously.

Oh and here’s something of mine.  Don’t take it too seriously.  I really wanted to try out some brostep.
