Love this re-edit fatboy Slim did of this track… Fatboy was probably the very first dance music guy I really listened to and the simplistic but perfect edit of this track is why he is the man.
Kanye made me like hip-hop again… From a producers point of view there’s no better and the clean high end aesthetic, attention to detail and artistic ambition changed the entire rap game. I wouldn’t say Jay-Z brings the same level of fiery inspiration but he is undoubtedly the zen master… A living legend who I love for his sense of history and classic style. Together their chemistry is undeniable, born of a decade of collaborations it the perfect yin and yang musical match up. West oversaw the production of the album, with RZA, Swizz Beatz, Mike Dean, Jeff Bhasker, Q-Tip and others helping out… The result is a multi-layered ambitious next level album.

I have always loved DFA 1979… they helped influence everything from the music I listened to to the music me and Liam produce and right on through MSTKRFT pretty much dominated as one of the seminal influences of my musical life… (edit: Ok they crack the top five… maybe)
Except I had never heard them live.
Until now.
And I cannot describe how sick it was… Two guys on a stage… And they really looked like two lone guys on a massive stage… A small ebb in a tide of tens of thousands of unruly fans… except within a few bars they had the entire Osheaga festival roiling and moshing and stirring up more energy in those first few minutes than I’ve heard in any show ever.
Too crazy… go buy all there albums here and next time they come rolling into town roll yourself to the show.
I haven’t heard a straight up ravey banger like this in ages… Puts me back!!! Actually can’t wait to play this. And that has not happened in a long time Buy it on Beatport here
Bassnectar was undoubtedly one of the sickest acts at osheaga. Dark rolling bass fit the Green stage tucked away in the forest perfectly. It was juust in time for my first live bassnectar experience since he just dropped what is undeniably a massive album. With features from ill.Gates, Jansten, and Seth Drake, Bassnectar cements his title as the king of festival bass.

I’m a huge fan of these BBC live versions of big club tunes…Although its weird that producers rarely get the credit they deserve in terms of being real musicians –especially electronic ones –even though they are composing full arrangementswith sometimes literally more tracks playing than there are musicians in an orchestra. But as soon as you get a few live muscians playing it suddenly everyone’s like WHOA this really is MUSIC. Anyways that said I still think its awesome and Sian Evans performing live kills her spot on producer DJ Fresh’s UK chart topping “Louder.”
