I’m currently deep into a big room house phase, and  it is largely because of this track.  I don’t know what it is – the beautiful chords, the mega tight production, or the fact that it repeats over and over for 7 minutes.  Regardless, it’s one of the best house songs I’ve heard in a long time.

I love Warpaint I While in England the band recorded a session for Rough Trade, with whom the group released The Fool, to celebrate the release of a deluxe version of that album.  These hauntingly shot clips include live versions of  four tracks Composure, Majesty,  as well as non-album songs Billie Holiday, and Burgundy from Exquisite Corpse. 

Torro Torro is back in Montreal again with their quickly growing Moombahton party “S L O W E D”.  The lineup they’ve got is really tight, including Montreal’s own Dooze Jackers and Sulley.  It’s at Blue Dog so I imagine it’s going to fill up extremely fast.  Event link below.

This is really sad… Dj Mehdi was an amazing talent.

The news is reporting that Mehdi was fatally injured when the roof of his Paris home collapsed.

this is my favourite Mehdi remix… Actually one of my all time favorite electronic tracks ever and I had one of the craziest nights of my life with this as the soundtrack.  It was a strange weird night but one of the best nights of my life and I guess I have him to thank for that.

You’ll be missed Mehdi, the world lost a wonderful muscian.

Burial (DJ Mehdi Remix)

When I woke up today, I was already feeling a lil off. The skies were gray and it looked like it was about to rain. But that wasn’t going to get me ready for what I read on twitter while I was having my morning cigarette. DJ Mehdi passed away. This was definitely a shocking way to start my day. I’m sure just like most of you, DJ Mehdi was one of those artists that I looked into when I was first discovering EDM and Electro, back when Ed Banger ran the Electro and French House scene. I can safely say he is one of the main reasons I’m into EDM and a producer. I remember being 14 and hearing “I am somebody” for the first time and falling in love with dance music. From his productions as DJ Mehdi to his work as Carte Blanche, he put out nothing but good material. Now that he’s left us unexpectedly we will definitely be missing a significant contributor to the world of EDM. He has left behind a great legacy as a great DJ and Producer and I’m sure will continue to be seen as an innovator. Here are 2 tracks of his that have always stuck with me. If it wasn’t for someone like DJ Mehdi I’m sure most of us wouldn’t be listening to the music that we are listening to today.
