SABELA’S SCREENING OF TSOTSI

For all you locals Montreal’s the charity organization Sabela are putting on a screening of the movie Tsotsi in the Frank Dawson Adams Auditorium of McGill University tomorrow.

This is a crazy movie set in the urban ghetto of modern day Johannesburg, South Africa, this psychological thriller takes you 6 days into the life of a young, ruthless shantytown gangster who is forced to confront his brutal nature.

The soundtrack is front and center and totally different… composed by South African artist Zola this guy has some serious swagger…. Cool too check out what else South Africa has to offer other than Die Antwoord.

So if you’d like to support a good cause and are in the Montreal area go check out Sabela’s screening of Tsotsi. The movie will be on the big screen and it will run from about 6PM-730PM. And wherever you are if you like a good gangster flick with a powerful message I suggest checking it out

Dorian Concept Live at CFC

Dorian Concept is a Vienna based composer and musician, a child piano prodigy who went onto study music composition in Salzburg. He is currently one of the most exciting artists working in electronic music; his fusion of jazz, electronics and club music is as exciting as it is unique.

Next Thursday, Dorian will be stopping by CFC (formally Zoobizarre) in Montreal for a special live set. This is definitely going to be a special night, with DJ support from Joe Shabadu, Jacques Greene, Rilly Guilty and Seb Diamond. All the info can be found on the facebook event.

Camel In Canada

Camel is a producer who has been on top form over the past 12 months. His music, which can mostly be found on the great label Deadfish, is a mix of house and tech house which makes for really funky, groovy, and most of all fun dance tunes. Labelmate Solo has coined this style “Midget” House. He has finally made it across the pond from Italy and will be playing shows in Toronto and Montreal this weekend! You can catch him Thursday in Toronto at The Social or alternatively, Friday in Montreal at Velvet. I would highly recommend catching these shows as I’ve heard great things about his DJing and as we already know his production is top notch.

As a little taste of what the night might sound like, here is a brand new track Camel is giving away for free!

PIKNIC ELECTRONIK DIARY

http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o44/dimichdimichdimich/DSC05129-1.jpg

Ok so I know this a bit local but piknic Electronik is one of the sickest parties I’ve ever been to and deserves a spot on the main page.  Its massive outdoor rave that happens every sunday in a bautiful park on the water in Montreal under a massive art installation….. They’ve hosted everyone from baassnectar to mstrkrft.  Up until this year you could even bring your own booze in…. Now you still can you just need to accompany it with a real piknic…. which we all did last weekend!

last weekend was  especially cool because as they  teemed up with mutek another music festival and key component to Montreal’s absolutely epic electronic scene.

Headling was Paul Kalkbrenner who did an incredible job along with everyone else.  Also the movie the movie Berlin Calling, with Paul Kalkbrenner, is being  presented at the Montreal Goethe Institute (418 Sherbrooke E. St.) Tonight was the last night to check that out but hopefully a few of you guys caught that…. The movie stars the DJ and explores the udnerground Berlin music scene

This weekend will be absolutely incredible again for Grand Prix as the secretsundaze DJs and stars of the famous outdoor party circuit invade the Piknic….Check out the line-up and more info about the Djs after the jump!
