Tonight we’re throwing our “Blogwars” party featuring Classixx, Harvard Bass, Drop the Lime. The first of our interview series with the “Blogwars” headliners is featuring none other than Drop the Lime.
One of my first introductions to bass driven music was through one of the early Trouble and Bass EPs in 2007. I’ve been a big supporter of Trouble and Bass ever since, and was thrilled at the chance to chat with their fearless leader Luca Venezia aka Drop the Lime. Drop the Lime recently put out the massive “Devils Eyes” and “Set Me Free” releases, featuring amazing remixes from just about every big name DJ in the business. Check out the interview after the jump!

When our good friend Yo-Ev of Torro Torro asked if I wanted to interview DJ Sega, I immediately jumped at the opportunity. Admittedly I’m no expert on the Baltimore and Philly Club scenes, but I’ve always been a huge fan of the sound and energy that they bring. DJ Sega, is at the forefront of the Philly club scene, with his incredibly creative production style. I’ve heard Sega masterfully sample everything from Papa Roach and Nirvana to Taylor Swift and Family Guy. I’ve heard amazing things about his DJ sets, which apparently match the intensity and originality of his production. Everyone in Toronto should make sure to check him out alongside our good friends Torro Torro this Friday, February 19th at Eddie’s 860 B College St. West. Check out the Facebook event for more info, now here’s the interview.

In preparation for our big 4th year Anniversary party, we decided to have a quick chat with our headliner for the night, Foamo. I had the pleasure of meeting Foamo last year when he came to play at CODA here in Montreal. Since then Foamo has had a meteoric rise to the top, on the back of his flawless production and remixes. 2009 also saw him hold a residencies at Space in Ibiza, as well as the monthly Chew the Fat night in London. We talked about everything from his Drum and Bass roots, and upcoming production, to his not-so secret love for Dubstep.

A few weeks ago I posted ‘Bangkok’ by Boris Dlugosch. ‘Bangkok’ is without a doubt one of the biggest tracks out right now and is being played by absolutely everyone in the electro world. The hype surrounding this song before its release was crazy! Although Boris has been producing music for years, he was almost unknown in the blogosphere. Luckily, we were able to get him to answer some questions for us and give us a better understanding of who Boris Dlugosch is and how his production has evolved over the past 20 years. He certainly hasn’t shied away from any questions and has given us some detailed insight into his djing style and the process of releasing a track like ‘Bangkok.’ Enjoy!

Designer Drugs have arguably one of the best names in dance music, and back up this killer moniker with quality track after quality track. The pair, now based out of New York, have an impressive resume of remixes, which includes the likes of the Veronicas, Little Boots, and most recently an irresistible reworking of Annie’s Anthonio. Most recently they have put out the massive dance floor destroying “Riot/Drop Down EP” released on iheartcomix.

These two masked villains have been blowing up stereos and festivals across the world, murdering everything in their site and absolutely murdered it at our KILL HALLOWEEN party in Oct. With Christmas vendetta having just dropped along and a new trippy video for Romborama out now, The Bloody Beetroots are only picking up steam.

The Cobrasnake is an international phenomenon. (Real name) Mark Hunter has captured hearts and minds across the world ever since he started his photoblog, www.thecobrasnake.com, originally named the Polaroid Scene. He is, to put it bluntly, the quintessential hipster; not exactly forthcoming in appearance, his wild hair, differing facial hair designs, (all various forms of scruffy) and vintage attire doesn’t exactly scream accomplished in any field other than smoking weed and channel surfing. But that’s the point.

It seems like LA Riots have been the center of an incredible buzz from the minute they came together. Glowing reviews from blogs,DJs and such hollowed dance music institution’s as URB magazine came in droves and promoters, eager listeners and DJs alike where scrambling to get their hands on the guys and their music.

A Montreal O.G. and Canadian legend, DJ Grandtheft (one half of the infamous Team Canada duo) has been doing this thing for almost a decade now: starting out DJing at the Bluedog Motel with partner D.R. One, the two have grinded hard for the last four or so years, gaining international acclaim and eventually buying the very establishment from whence they started their ascent. The Blue Dog Motel is now pumping like never before, Team Canada is getting ready to release a spanking new CD, ‘Canadian Club,’ Grandtheezy himself is releasing his very first EP, “The Big Dirty,” and the boys are getting ready to embark on a two month 35 date Odyssey across the great white north. We got a chance to catch up before he heads out on tour to get the lowdown on the new albums, some advice for up-and-comers, and how they survive their 200 date a year schedule…
