The remix starts off with a nice techno vibe and throughout the 7 minutes builds into an all out electro-rock bomb. I’m gonna go listen to it 20 more times, enjoy!

Tonight we’re throwing our “Blogwars” party featuring Classixx, Harvard Bass, Drop the Lime. The first of our interview series with the “Blogwars” headliners is featuring none other than Drop the Lime.

One of my first introductions to bass driven music was through one of the early Trouble and Bass EPs in 2007. I’ve been a big supporter of Trouble and Bass ever since, and was thrilled at the chance to chat with their fearless leader Luca Venezia aka Drop the Lime. Drop the Lime recently put out the massive “Devils Eyes” and “Set Me Free” releases, featuring amazing remixes from just about every big name DJ in the business. Check out the interview after the jump!

Kid Aloha: I’ve seen a few of the videos from Summerstage where you played with a live band. The whole thing looked and sounded amazing, are there plans to go on tour or record with the band?
Drop The Lime: eventually one day… but for now i am focusing on DJng and performing as a solo act.

KA: You often provide live vocals during your DJ sets, and have shown off your vocal abilties recently in Devil’s Eyes. Will you be keeping your vocals exclusive to your own productions, or do you plan on singing on other people’s tracks as well?
DTL: check out the upcoming crookers album, im featured on their.. as well as a new classixx tune coming out… Im doing a lot more guest vocals these days.. love working with artists who produce different styles than myself. give me a challenge vocally.

KA: Trouble and Bass started out as a party night in NYC, and is now an amazing crew and label as well. How did this evolution take place?
DTL: our parties grew massively within 3 years, just by playing music that was fresh and new to the new york ears… eventually we expanded onto EU/UK tours and it was only natural for a label to follow… as a crew weve gone through a lot of different members, but right now it feels like a real solid bunch.. AC Slater, The Captain and Star Eyes and me.

KA: I’ve always been a fan of the Trouble and Bass visuals and aesthetic, where does the vision and artwork for the label come from?
DTL: I created the logo about 5 years ago… wanting to create visual reference to an anchor of sound. always inspired by the mystery of darkness… nightlife, creatures of the night.. the sound we play goes hand in hand with the visual aesthetic of 80’s horror movies, new york gangs of the 70’s, vampire folklore, all with a touch of class … the captain and i handle a lot of the art direction and work with designers like Zonders, The KDU, and sometimes design the covers ourselves.

KA: As one of the first champions of the Dubstep sound in North America, has it been weird seeing it absolutely blow up on this continent and world wide?”
DTL: its massive now isnt it? ha… pretty crazy.. very exciting.. I remember when I was dropping Grime Instrumentals because the sound reminded me of Garage and D&B but at a house tempo, but didnt know what to call it.. now dubstep is massive.. its on US Radio.. so crazy.

KA: What’s on the horizon for Drop the Lime and the Trouble and Bass crew in 2010 and beyond?
DTL: Im finishing my album, which will be dropping end of the year – and im incorporating a bit of my rockabilly side to the bass heavy thing this time.. this year the label is going into overdrive.. weve got so many exciting new releases from artists worldwide – some things to expect are a new single from AC slater feat Ninja Sonik, Zombies for Money from Portugal, Supra1 from Poland, Boogaloo Crew from UK, Little Jinder from Sweden… really going international with our roster.. and ready to blast. its only the beginning really for us as a crew/label and party… I plan to spread the sounds we love and inspire the kids.

Homie has creativity and a different approach to rap. I recently came across this track, produced by the all-mighty Diplo. If you dont know, he banged M.I.A. several times/produced her album. This song is from the upcoming album More Malice The Deluxe Edition and Movie dropping March 23 and it is catchy as f**k. Enjoy…lemme know what you think, dont be afraid to comment!

On Monday my favorite label in the entire universe Made To Play released a new EP from Oliver $. I was super excited to get my hands on iHope after hearing it in the recent Renaissance Man mix I posted here. ‘iHope’ another piece of sample based house that we’ve come to expect from the Berlin label. Below is a really random video, apparently relating to the track names (iHope and Ginger Ale) that previews both tracks on the EP. As a little gift so you won’t go away empty handed, I’ve uploaded his smashing remix of Riva Starr’s ‘Dance Me’ as well. If you like what you hear go support an amazing label and buy the EP on Beatport!!
