Crookers and Major Lazer are incredibly far from mainstream. Electro music is INCREDIBLY far from mainstream. In our tiny little blog world, names like Crookers are considered “the big names” or “mainstream” but you have to realize that “electro” itself is pretty small in dance music as a whole. And in terms of “mainstream” music in North America, EDM (if that’s what you choose to call it) has barely ever broken into mainstream pop culture.
An example, I was looking at lists of like top 100 djs in the world. And other than MSTRKRFT and Justice I didn’t even really see many other artists I was even interested in.
