This week, Mad Decent released the 10th and final installation of their legendary Hollertronix series. It’s hard to explain the magic of the Hollertronix releases, as they’ve showcased so many various sounds. They masterfully combine the DIY/Hip-Hop attitude, with relentless club energy, that will work on nearly any dancefloor.
Back in the day, when I was a Hip-Hop enthusiast and DJ, Hollertronix provided my first glimpse into the crazy world of uptempo dance music. Its a bit sad to see it coming to an end, but they certainly go out with a bang. All the tracks on the release are absolute fire, and I encourage you guys to buy this release. Hollertronix certainly was a great part of the history and development of our young Electro culture, and was certainly one of the bigger influences on Kid Aloha.
Here’s a remix that Diplo and Jayou did of “Murderer” off of the Hollertronix 10 release. The drums in this track are absolutely mind-blowing, and it features a sample from one of my favorite Reggae tracks. Gold stars to anyone who can name the sample.
