As Montrealers, we’re really blessed. The amount of musical talent in this city is absolutely incredible. Although they’re originally from Nova Scotia, dance music duo Botnek have now called Montreal home for the past few years. The pair’s unofficial motto seems to be ”there are no rules”. Indeed, they’ve crafted a sound that’s hard to categorize. Marked by bleeps, bloops and everything in between, Botnek’s latest comes in the form of a thundering remix for Sound Of Stereo’s “TFA”. A weird blend of crafty techno rhythms and wonky distortion-fueled electro, this remix is must-have that’s sure to rip dancefloors to shreds.
Sound of Stereo recently uploaded this tight mix to their Soundcloud account. It’s a promotional mix for their upcoming Flatland Tour as well as the Flatland EP, forthcoming on Dim Mak. One of the aforementioned Flatland tour, is our own Woodwork Festival, also featuring Nero, Brodinski, Laidback Luke and Calvin Harris. Everything that these boys seems to turn to gold, and this mix is no exception. Extra points to anyone who knows where the awesome sample used in the intro is from.
I came across this track the other day, and with no prior knowledge of 10 Rapid I was pretty damn impressed. He’s produced a pretty massive banger in the same style as the new stuff coming out from Sound Of Stereo (a personal favorite of mine right now). I will definitely be playing this track out very soon.

SODA & SUDS – WE DO IT AGAIN (DISCO VILLAINS FRESCO REMIX)
I usually spend considerable amounts of free time scouring the internet for new music. Sadly, I’ve recently had to significantly cut down on procrastination in light of exams. Luckily, I have lots of electro loving friends to send me tracks. My buddy just gave me the heads up on this Disco Villains remix of Soda & Suds‘ new single ‘Do It Again.’ The track has that tribal and tech house sound that seems to be all the rage at the moment. But don’t get me wrong, this song is BIG. The drop reminds me of some of the new Sound Of Stereo stuff we’ve recently posted. I really hope to hear (or play) this out soon.
In anticipation for the Bloody Beetroots show tonight, I’m posting up a teaser for the new EP from Sound Of Stereo. These two Belgians produce big, big tracks. Their past work has gotten support from all he big boys in the electro scene, but I think the Zipper EP showcases some of the best tracks they’ve produced so far. Check out the video above of them dropping ‘Zipper’ at I Love Techno. NUTS. Below is the minimix for the EP which includes ‘Zipper’, ‘Velcro’, and ‘Button.’ And don’t be surprised to hear the Beetroots drop their remix of Sound Of Stereo’s ‘Heads Up’ tonight!
